Canadian singer Celine Dion performs on the Eiffel Tower on the screen during the conlusion part of the of the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony taken from Place du Trocadero on July 26, 2024. This marked the first time an Olympic opening ceremony was held outside a stadium. Athletes got on boats and cruised down an open-air parade along a 6km stretch of the Seine, passing by historic Paris landmarks, including the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral and the Louvre. The ceremony kicked off 16 days of competition across 32 disciplines. A total of 206 Olympic national teams including the Individual Neutral Athletes and the Refugee Olympic Team participated in the Paris Olympic Games.
